Championing Liberia at ECOWAS

Honorable Moima Dabah Briggs Mensah proudly serves as the only female member of the Liberian delegation to the ECOWAS Parliament, where she continues to raise the flag of Liberia and the voice of African women high on the regional stage. A passionate advocate for gender equity and inclusive governance, Hon. Briggs Mensah currently holds the position of Second Rapporteur on the Committee on Gender, Women Empowerment, and Social Protection one of the Parliament’s most vital committees for promoting human development and social justice across West Africa.

In her role, she brings the lived experiences of Liberian women and girls to the forefront of policy conversations, advocating for regional solutions to gender-based violence, economic inequality, and political underrepresentation. Most recently, Hon. Briggs Mensah lent her voice in support of Honorable Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan of Nigeria, praising her courage and reaffirming the need for sustained solidarity among women in leadership across the ECOWAS region.

Her active engagement in regional diplomacy and legislative advocacy is a reflection of her unwavering commitment to the empowerment of women and girls not just in Liberia, but across the ECOWAS sub-region. Through her leadership, Liberia continues to have a powerful voice shaping inclusive policies for the future of West Africa.
